So, I've removed the ability to display/post URLs and e-mails for commenters. It seems that even with the anti-SPAM measures I am forced to use in these days, real people will still try to keyword-spam in the comments. I've debated removing commenting completely, but at least one blog on this system gets interesting comments at times.

Seriously, "marketing professionals" ruin every good service where communication can happen by stuffing the service with their loud voices.

I know this isn't one of the standard posts here. (Not that there are many posts.) However, I wanted to share a small passion of mine, which is tea.

Although I had been drinking the usual tea stuff you'd expect for the average person in the US, I hadn't ever really thought about doing better. However, as time went on, I grew more open-minded to try new things, and a trip to The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in December of 2006 started my love of quality tea.

However, I wanted to try more than the limited selection that store could offer. After following a recommendation, I discovered Adagio Teas. They are an online tea dealer and have a huge selection. In fact, being able to try different samples for a good price helped me find my love of green teas. I can honestly say that they have become my favorite general online tea shop.

So, if you are interested insomething better than that old Lipton or Tetley you've been drinking, give them a try. You'll probably be very happy.

In case you missed their link above, here it is again: Adagio Teas.

(Maybe I'll make this an occasional thing to get some new content up...)

New SMF modifications have been added to the SMF project page. This should now include all the mods we manage. Direct downloads have been disabled since it's easy enough to download from the official mod site and it's easier to manage one location of files instead of two.

Also, the Pidgin Nightly Builds page has been updated to include a new build for today. The build environment has finally been cleaned up to make builds easier. Hopefully a new build will be posted at least once a week, if not daily.

Since it has been a while without visible progress on things, I thought I would make a quick post on things. Following are status summaries of the major projects at this site.

Pidgin Nightly Builds

Due to some problems with my build environment, builds have not been made recently. I have resolved this problem and managed to make a good build recently, so updates will be made soon.

SMF Mods

With the first public beta of SMF 2.0 out, I am working to update my mods to support it. For small mods like Order News, the porting should be quick.

If you have used Visual Verification Options, you'll be pleased to know
that all the functionality it provided is now part of the SMF core.

As for, the reCAPTCHA mod, I am working on determining the best way to proceed. With 2.0 beta 3, the built-in visual verification has been centralized instead of being included in every template that needs it. While this is very nice from a reusability standpoint, it means I need to determine the best way of adding my functionality in. I want to stay as close to the standard of how things work as possible.

I will also be updating this portion of the site soon to update the local copies of my mods and also add missing ones.

ProBIND

Due to time constraints, work hasn't been progressing as fast as I would have liked on updating this. I hope to clear some time to start working on some refactoring and rearchitecting soon, and might be cutting a 1.0 branch for critical updates and bugfixes while I de-stabilize trunk. Check the project site for news when this happens.

The comment system on the site

I haven't had time yet to find the trigger that is causing normal posts to be marked as spam. I'm thinking the Bayesian filter is confused, but it could be one of the other anti-spam measures I have set up.
